About the Company

Jody Oberfelder Projects creates site-specific immersive experiences for audiences, using dance as the connecting language. Based in New York City since 1988, JOP uses movement as a forum for interactivity, contemplation of ideas, and personal connection. Jody Oberfelder Projects is committed to making dance accessible to people from all walks of life, through reaching diverse communities and performing in unique venues.  

Jody Oberfelder Projects (JOP), has performed internationally at Dance München Festival, The Victoria and Albert Museum,  Plymouth University Walking’s New Movements Conference (Plymouth UK), Flowstate (Brisbane, Australia), St. Pancras Station (London), The International Nanotechnology Summit, (Braga Portugal), Museu dos Biskeínhos (Braga, Portugal), NoD (Prague), Gallus Theater (Frankfurt) Guelph Dance Festival (Canada), Centre National de la Danse (Paris), Die Werkstatt (Dusseldorf), The Pusan National Theater (Korea), The 20th Annual International Festival of Modern Dance (Seoul), and The Belgrade Dance Festival (with performances at The Belgrade State Theater in Serbia and the State Theater of Montenegro in Podorica).  In the United States, JOP has presented work at New York Live Arts, The Flea Theater, Governor’s Island, Arts@Renaissance, Abrons Arts Center, Dixon Place (two Mondo Cane commissions), Schimmel Theater at Pace University, The Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, Jacob’s Pillow, MASS MoCA, Washington College, and The Yard in Martha's Vineyard.

Jody Oberfelder Projects recent New York Season Rube G. —The Consequence of Action played with movement ideas akin to a Rube Goldberg Machine, involving the audience into a world of connectedness (Gibney”s Agnes Varis Performing Arts Center. The company’s tour to the 2023 DANCE Munich Festival included performances of Walking to Present and Life Traveler. May 4-8, 2024 JOP premiered And Then, Now at Green-Wood Cemetery, a walk with embedded music/dance performances,
